DPRA was retained by the Chatham Kent Women's Centre (a shelter for abused women and children) to conduct a review of its operations, management and governance structures, policies and procedures, and the effects of recent changes within the agency.

Confidential in-person and telephone interviews were conducted with all agency staff and board members. A report was submitted to the board that summarized DPRA's findings and provided recommendations for action to improve the organization.

Later, DPRA met with all staff to discuss the review's findings and recommendations, and provided advice to the board regarding best strategies to implement the recommendations. Many of DPRA's recommendations to the agency were regarding the operations of its board in respect to its policies and procedures and the model upon which board is based.
