DPRA was part of a team that assisted the CWG with the design and development of a public consultation program related to the development of a new constitution for the western Northwest Territories. Over a period of six months, DPRA worked with the CWG members and staff to develop the public consultation process, consultation workbooks and associated materials, media communications program, the facilitator training session, and overall strategic approach to the process. The assignment required extensive 'working meetings'with the CWG to develop an approach and materials which were uniquely suited to the diverse needs and interests of Aboriginal, non-Aboriginal, business, tourism and government stakeholders within the western Northwest Territories. As part of the process, DPRA facilitated several focus groups on the development of communications materials. The consultation process and materials have been implemented by the CWG, and they have generated the dialogue and information sharing necessary to ensure that constitutional approaches and models developed meet the needs and interests of all stakeholders.
