Kettle Point and Stoney Point
As part of the comprehensive community plan for the Kettle Point reserve, DPRA examined the potential for additional cottage leasing as a community economic development activity. In addition the potential uses for the Stoney Point lands (Department of National Defence Camp Ipperwash) were examined and a plan prepared to demonstrate how the lands would be used once repatriated from the Government of Canada and the Department of National Defence. The plan for Stoney Point demonstrated the tourism and recreational potential of the lands and documented its value to the First Nation. During this time there were ongoing negotiations for the return of the land and DPRA staff were involved in generating information that was of use to the First Nation in the ongoing negotiations.
