DPRA was retained to undertake a peer review of the socio-economic effects assessment conducted by Diavik Mines Inc. as part of the environmental assessment produced in support of its application to develop a diamond mine north-east of Yellowknife, NWT. Important aspects of this work included the potential cumulative socio-economic effects and the effects on Aboriginal communities in the region. The peer review study included a review of relevant documentation, key contact interviews, technical meetings and public workshops. Suggestions were provided with respect to the incorporation of socio-economic considerations into the Comprehensive Study Report.
