Justice Canada - Legal Aid Service Provision in Nunavut Research Study
DPRA and Dennis Patterson & Associates, conducted research into Legal Aid service provision in Nunavut. The research methodology included document review, file-based research, interviews, and workshops, as well as the development of a database to facilitate the sorting and retrieval of information gathered through these various methods. The study identified existing gaps in Legal Aid service provision in Nunavut, examined the ways in which the geography, culture, and legal system in Nunavut affect Legal Aid service provision in the Territory, and presented options for filling those gaps and addressing the effects of the local environment on service provision, such that overall service to the people of Nunavut may be improved.
