Maps are an excellent way of telling a story of some part of the world. Some projects taken on by DPRA are GIS centric for the purpose of planning and decision making. Others that are not as GIS centred can still benefit from the use of maps to help communicate issues or topics to a community. GIS is used as a communication tool for many of the projects developed by the other units. An example of this is the Mushkegowuk Resources Development Protocol map which simply illustrates the location of all the communities involved in the Protocol. Maps were also generated for the Nuclear Waste Management Organization to help them in identifying candidate communities for hosting their Canada-wide dialogue.
