Digital Frontier: Environmental Information Management System
With funding from the World Bank, DPRA and its partners DPRA (Rosslyn/Dallas) and LANIA (Xalapa) Mexico designed an environmental information management system prototype, known as Digital Frontier, for the Municipality of Juarez, Chihuahua. The Digital Frontier system was designed as a web-based application and was built upon available systems and access restrictions.
Digital Frontier addressed the integration of multimedia data, including land, water, waste, and air related information, incorporated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the display of related spatial data (maps), and developed e-government functionality. The final implementation of the Digital Frontier project is anticipated to incorporate border-wide (U.S. and Mexico) functionality and data.
