DPRA offers several effective and tailored tank management services to meet our clients’ needs. For over 20 years, DPRA has provided assistance in addressing petroleum release sites, preparing and submitting state petroleum release reimbursement applications, evaluating operational compliance of tank systems, and training on the proper operation and maintenance of aboveground and underground storage tanks systems.

DPRA staff has extensive knowledge on the proper operation and maintenance of storage tank systems and the associated regulatory requirements. DPRA is highly skilled in providing our clients with the knowledge of how their tank systems operate and what upgrades, repairs, or documentation is required to meet the regulatory compliance standards, assistance in reducing risks associated with storage tanks, and best management practices that can be easily implemented to help maintain compliance.

Under new federal guidelines, operating underground storage tank (UST) systems must be inspected at least every three years by the regulating agency and tank owners must have personnel who are trained and knowledgeable on the proper operation of the tank system at their facilities. DPRA provides clients with services such as evaluating tank compliance, preparation of operation and maintenance plans for tank systems, and training to help our clients to achieve and maintain tank compliance. Our goal is to provide our clients with the tools necessary to help them gain a level of comfort with the proper operation of their tank system and to help them avoid violations at their next inspection.

There are two major design requirements for underground storage tanks: leak detection for both the tank and the piping; and leak prevention provided through spill and overfill protection, corrosion protection, and standard operating procedures during fuel delivery. DPRA offers both hands-on classroom training as well as on-line training for the proper operation and maintenance of UST systems. Both the classroom and on-line training cover the following topics:

         UST Regulations (limited in scope)
         Tank Leak Detection
         Piping Leak Detection
         Overfill Prevention
         Spill Protection
         Spill Response and Reporting
         Vapor Recovery
         Dispensers & Shear Valves
         Recordkeeping
         Change in Tank Status

Not only is it important to operate and maintain your UST system properly to prevent or detect a release while the system is operating, being compliant with the regulatory requirements saves tank owners money if their system ever has a release.
