GeoPortal is a rapid deployment framework for two Internet mapping servers—ESRI’s ArcIMS or Open Source’s MapServer. GeoPortal offers a complete spatially enabled site, providing users with a wide array of geographic and tabular tools. Click here to see a list of functions.

Through the customization of labeling, symbology, and control layer management, GeoPortal emulates desktop application functionality.

With GeoPortal, clients can easily add custom and standard tool bars as well as fully customize the map and load personalized custom views, access standardized maps, integrate local data, and save all the modifications for later use. The information that is saved can be output to MS Office for enhanced map presentation capabilities.

GeoPortal Tools

GeoPortal supports any number of custom templates and with the enhanced printing module it can support any page size and print custom maps in cartographic quality.

GeoPortal saves clients' time and resources through IMS rapid deployment and low internal implementation costs. Also, there is no proprietary data model as GeoPortal uses the client’s existing data in the existing format.

GeoPortal has sufficient GIS functionality to satisfy the needs of casual and intermediate GIS users while reducing the reliance on desktop licensing.

The GeoPortal toolset both enhances out-of-the-box ArcIMS and MapServer functionality and facilitates the automation of complex business processes. Tools such as the Data Extraction Tool provide a server-side application environment resulting in ‘zero-footprint’ for the client’s machine.
