Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL)
DPRA's AVL extension provides users with an interface that is fully integrated with monitoring data. The system takes advantage of the geographic functionality within GeoPortal web-based GIS.
The AVL extension ties directly to DPRA's GeoPortal web mapping framework to locate and display vehicles in the field. GeoPortal provides the necessary underlying functionality and exposure of geographic objects to make AVL work.

Process
Like the other GeoPortal extensions, the AVL tools, menus, and functions are accessible directly from the GeoPortal interface. No other interface, site, or software is needed to run AVL.
